Location

XR Stories is just nine minutes’ walk from York railway station.

XR Stories is located in The Guildhall, through the archway next to the Mansion House on St. Helen's Square.

Access 

The Guildhall is a Grade I and II listed building that is located through the archway next to the Mansion House on Coney Street in York. The main entrance to The Guildhall is located at the right hand side of the building with access via five steps (with a handrail) or via a permanent ramp. The XR Stories immersive R&D lab is situated on the second floor of The Guildhall with step-free access via a lift or four flights of stairs.

Additional access information: 

  • Wheelchair accessible and gender-neutral toilets.
  • Guide dogs/service animals welcome.
  • Coney street is pedestrianised between 10:30am to 5:00pm each day and vehicles (including taxis) cannot drive to The Guildhall between these times.
  • The closest drop off point for taxis during these hours is Lendal / Museum Street (or the nearby Duncombe Place taxi rank), which is roughly a two to three minute walk to The Guildhall.
  • Please email [email protected] if you would like a member of the XR Stories team to meet you at the drop off point and escort you to and from The Guildhall.
  • Please note that there are historic, cobbled streets surrounding the entrance to The Guildhall. 
  • There is no on-site parking at The Guildhall.

Parking

There is no parking at The Guildhall and the streets around the location are pedestrianised between 10:30am and 5:00pm, seven days a week. The nearest car parks are:

  • NCP Tanner Row car park, Tanner Row, York YO1 6JL. Approximately six minutes’ walk to The Guildhall.
  • Bootham Row car park, The Quadrant, Bootham Row, York YO30 7BP. Approximately six minutes’ walk to The Guildhall.
  • Esplanade car park, West Esplanade, York, YO26 4ZP. Approximately seven minutes’ walk to The Guildhall
  • Marygate car park, Frederic Street, York, YO30 7DT. Approximately ten minutes’ walk to The Guildhall.

Park and Ride

Free parking is available at any of the York Park and Ride car parks with regular buses to the city centre. The closest Park and Ride stop to The Guildhall is the Rawcliffe Bar (service two).

Bikes

There are four bike racks within The Guildhall external courtyard and further bike racks located on the streets surrounding the entrance to The Guildhall.
