XR Stories celebrates the creative industries at Buckingham Palace
On Wednesday 15 May 2024, Damian Murphy, Director of XR Stories, joined an event at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the creative industries.
Hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla in collaboration with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the creative industries garden party was held to recognise the contribution of the industries to the UK economy.
Professor Damian Murphy received an invitation from the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport in recognition of the work of XR Stories in boosting innovation and growth in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
Guests from across games, film, broadcasting, museums, heritage, music and fashion included partners and companies supported by XR Stories.
Attendees from Screen Yorkshire, Game Republic, Pilot Theatre, Revolution Software, Mediale, XR Games, Cooperative Innovations, and Production Park represented the success stories of the creative industries in the North of England.
“It was an honour to celebrate the achievements of XR Stories at such a prestigious event and to take stock of the immense value that the creative industries bring to our country,” said Professor Murphy.
“As the work of initiatives including CoSTAR LiveLab and XR Network+ gather momentum, XR Stories and the University of York remain committed to advancing the creative industries in our region and beyond.”
