Virtual production in Yorkshire and the Humber showcased in new film

XR Stories and the Screen Industries Growth Network (SIGN) present a new film showcasing the use of virtual production in Yorkshire and the Humber as the region becomes a growing center of excellence for this emerging suite of technologies.

Virtual production is a production method that uses a suite of software tools, or games engines (e.g. Unity, Unreal Engine), to combine live action footage and computer graphics in real-time content creation. Its prominence, in both the creative and screen industries, has soared over the last 18 months.

The film introduces the Yorkshire and Humber based companies that are investing in this new technology, including XPLOR, Prox & Reverie, Sky Studios and Pittswood Studio, plus the organisations in the region that are supporting the growth of virtual production, such as Screen Yorkshire and Backstage Academy

Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire, said ‘I want us to do everything we can to grow virtual production in our region. I want Yorkshire to be at the forefront of cutting edge content development.’
