R&D funding roundup – August 2024

A roundup of recent funding opportunities for researchers, companies and creatives.

Innovate UK innovation loans future economy – Round 16: Loans of up to £25 million for micro, small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) leading highly innovative late stage research and development (R&D) projects with a clear route to commercialisation and economic impact (closes 28 August).

Technologies to enable independence for people living with dementia: Funding for applicants from UK research organisations to develop a multidisciplinary NetworkPlus focused on the use and development of novel tools and technologies to enable people to live independently with dementia (closes 10 September).

Eureka collaborative R&D: Eurostars 3 Call 7: UK registered organisations can apply for a share of up to £2.5 million for collaborative research and development in partnership with organisations from participating Eurostars countries to create innovative products, technology-based applications or technology-based services (closes 12 September).

Innovate UK Knowledge transfer partnerships (KTP): 2024 to 2025 round three: UK registered academic institutions, research and technology organisations (RTOs) or Catapults can apply for a share of up to £9 million to fund innovation projects with businesses or not for profits (closes 25 September).

European Innovation Council Accelerator: A funding programme under Horizon Europe that offers support to start-ups and SMEs that have an innovative, game changing product, service or business model that could create new markets or disrupt existing ones in Europe and worldwide (closes 3 October).

Innovate UK Smart Grants: UK registered organisations can apply for a share of up to £25 million for game-changing and commercially viable research and development innovations that can significantly impact the UK economy (closes 23 October).

Creative Growth Finance Fund: Scale-up loans for UK businesses in the Creative Industries (open).

Creative UK: Creative Enterprise Business Builder: Grants to support companies who work in moving image for storytelling, spanning film television, games, animation and immersive industries (open).

Daphne Jackson Fellowship Grants: Fellowships for those looking to return to a research career after a break of two or more years for family, health or caring reasons. The aim is to give participants the confidence and skills they need to make a successful return to research (open).

Immersive Arts: The first consortium to be funded by XRtists, Immersive Arts is a £6 million, three year national programme that will support 200 artists from across the UK  to explore the possibilities of immersive technology with a new research & development programme – focusing on skills and the creative potential of the art form.
