Creative business residency programme

Applications for the XR Stories creative business residency programme have now closed.

The XR Stories creative business residency programme provides opportunities for creative businesses and freelancers to incubate new ideas and carry out productive research and development on their extended reality (XR) project, outside of their usual environment.

Successful applicants will become residents in the XR Stories immersive technology lab, using the project’s facilities and state-of-the-art technology as their own workspace. With support from the XR Stories research and development (R&D) team, residents will have up to five days worth of focused R&D time to make demonstrable progress in their project.

The XR Stories creative business residency programme is a non-commercial initiative that supports project research and development. We are unable to consider residency applications focused on commercial or product creation services.

The XR Stories lab hosts equipment to facilitate a range of immersive and interactive R&D across five key areas of XR:

  • Virtual Production
  • Virtual Characters and Performance Capture
  • Virtual Archiving
  • Virtual Reality
  • Spatial Audio Technology

In addition to the above, residents will have access to lab PCs with Unreal Engine, and a variety of handheld smart devices.

Objectives

The purpose of the XR Stories creative business residency programme is to support early stage research and development, with the aim to see notable progress by the end of the residency duration.
