Broadcast Futures
End date: 1 October 2021
Broadcast Futures is a research and development funding call to develop an immersive experience for the Science Museum Group at the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford.
XR Stories, StoryFutures Academy and the National Science and Media Museum are working together to award a grant of £100,000 to one Yorkshire and Humber-based SME to deliver an immersive installation at the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford.
The successful commission will push new boundaries in immersive storytelling and will deliver a magical, communal and frictionless experience, using emerging and bleeding edge technologies to draw audiences into a storyworld that explores the future of broadcasting.
The experience will be aligned with the National Science and Media Museums’ Broadcast Pioneers exhibition and will explore the theme ‘The Future of Broadcasting’ as part of the Science Museum Group’s coordinated exhibitions to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the BBC and 40 year anniversary of Channel 4.
The installation will run from 14 July 2022 until at least January 2023, and possibly longer.
Next steps
We are now accepting expressions of interest from Yorkshire and Humber-based SMEs in the creative industries for this call.
Expressions of interest are now closed.
Up to ten shortlisted SMEs will then be invited to participate in a virtual workshop in October 2021. The workshop will provide invited SMEs with the opportunity to hear presentations from the Broadcast Futures partners and ask questions before completing an application.
