Digital Creativity, Industry and Culture conference (DCIC 2022) programme announced

Organisers of the Digital Creativity, Industry and Culture conference (DCIC 2022) have announced the programme for their inaugural conference taking place at the University of York on 20 September 2022.

The one day conference will bring together researchers and practitioners from across academia and industry to explore the impact of interactive, immersive and artificially intelligent technologies on creative practices and the industries, societies and cultures through which they emerge.

Tom Rodden, Chief Scientific Advisor for the UK Government’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and Professor of Computing at the University of Nottingham, will give the keynote speech on the importance of the creative industries to the future of the UK.

Vicky Wharton, Head of Sky Innovation Hub; Sarah Ellis, Creative Director, Royal Shakespeare Company and Alice Quigley, Editor in Chief, Container Magazine will join an expert panel chaired by Jenna Ng, Senior Lecturer in Theatre, Film, TV and Interactive Media at the University of York. Additional panel members will be announced soon.

In between the plenary sessions, participants can select to attend group forums where quick fire presentations and curated discussions will explore various aspects of digital creativity, industry and culture. The parallel morning sessions will focus on ‘AI and Automation’, ‘Wellbeing and Inclusion’, and ‘Digital Performances’. The afternoon sessions will focus on ‘Digital Storytelling’, and ‘Audiences, Users, Workforce’

An early evening drinks reception will feature interactive demos to showcase a selection of R&D outputs from across the digital creativities.
