Advancing immersive projects in York and North Yorkshire
The XR Stories creative business residency programme has supported individuals and small businesses in York and North Yorkshire to explore state-of-the-art technologies, incubate ideas and elevate their immersive projects.
Running for the second consecutive year, the 2025 programme supported four creative projects:
- United by Design: Photogrammetry and Gaussian splatting workflow
- Geostories: Developing an immersive story world for an augmented reality audio app
- Debbie Harman: Developing an immersive visitor experience for the National Coal Mining Museum
- Desmond Clarke: Exploring live visuals for music performance
Using the XR Stories immersive technology research and development (R&D) lab as their own workspace, residents explored new approaches in a risk-free environment, with technical and R&D support from the XR Stories team.
XR Stories supported the residents to take their work out into the field, demonstrating how cutting-edge equipment and immersive technologies can be used in different environments to complement lab-specific work.
The residents also benefited from new connections and opportunities made possible through the XR Stories creative network. This included participating in a panel discussion at The Big Thing festival, and speaking at an XR Stories R&D event.
