XR Stories at UNESCO Creative Cities of Media Arts gathering
John Rose-Adams, Associate Director, Research, Development and Innovation at XR Stories will represent the University of York at the Annual Meeting of the UNESCO Media Arts Cluster.
Taking place in Namur, Belgium on 23 and 24 October 2025, the gathering will bring together representatives from UNESCO Creative Cities of Media Arts to share updates and generate ideas for future projects and collaborations.
Comprising 25 cities from five continents, the cluster aims to strengthen the role of creativity and culture in the lives of all individuals and communities.
York’s status as a UNESCO Creative Cities of Media Arts represents a commitment to creative activity and collaboration to promote cultural wellbeing; and deliver sustainable growth.
The Guild of Media Arts is custodian of York’s UNESCO designation and works with partners across the city, including XR Stories and the University of York, to champion, connect and support the cultural and creative sector of York.
Since 2018, XR Stories has played a key role in driving York’s cultural agenda as a UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts. As a flagship project at the University of York, XR Stories connects research, policy and innovative creative practice for the benefit of individuals, businesses and institutions in York’s creative and cultural community.
