XR Stories at the 2025 Aesthetica Short Film Festival
XR Stories is running the Virtual Reality (VR) and immersive experiences lab at the Aesthetica Short Film Festival (ASFF) in York from 5 to 9 November 2025.
The XR Stories team has also collaborated with the UAL London College of Communication to programme the lab, selecting and curating content to connect audiences to new and diverse immersive experiences.
Supported by University of York interns, the XR Stories team will provide technical support, equipment and expertise to immerse visitors in virtual stories spanning three themes: remember, connect and sense.
Taking place in the National Centre for Early Music, this year’s lab presents 17 diverse experiences from international and local artists. Audiences are invited to step into someone else’s shoes and explore both real-world and fantastical environments.
ASFF is a BAFTA-qualifying international festival that encompasses short film, VR experiences, and games. The festival shines a light on independent film and digital culture.
Celebrating its 15th year, ASFF presents an innovative programme of screenings, masterclasses and workshops across in-person, virtual and hybrid sessions.
