XR Stories welcomed Mediale artists to the University of York

XR Stories and sister project, SIGN, welcomed a cohort of artists, technologists and cultural influencers to the University of York, for Mediale’s Immersive Assembly Vol 2.

Immersive Assembly Vol 2: ‘Bodies and Geometry’ is a collaborative multi-disciplinary artist residency between Mediale and Viborg, Denmark, a UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts city. This project is supported by Arts Council England and the Danish Embassy.

XR Stories facilitated knowledge sharing sessions between the cohort and immersive storytelling specialists, Kit Monkman and Studio McGuire, and live coding artist Antonio Roberts. The cohort also explored two XR Stories funded projects in VR – Studio McGuire’s, Grains of Recollection and Mediale’s, Absent Sitters

The two day programme of activities gave the Mediale artists valuable insight into the various tools and techniques available for creating immersive projects, as they work towards producing their own prototype projects to be showcased in September.

This partnership between XR Stories, SIGN, the University of York, Mediale and the creative sector in Yorkshire and the Humber highlights the importance of collaborative working and the benefits for the region.
