University of York leads new CoSTAR LiveLAB

The University of York is leading one of the newly announced CoSTAR labs to develop the next generation of live performance technologies.

CoSTAR LiveLAB is a brand new state-of-the-art research and development facility at Production Park in Wakefield. The lab will provide researchers, companies and institutions with the infrastructure they need to conduct world-class research and development (R&D) in screen and performance technology.

The work of the LiveLAB consortium will be driven by cutting-edge applied research undertaken by experts at the University of York in collaboration with industry, public and third sector partners.

Professor Damian Murphy, Director of XR Stories and Co-Investigator, CoSTAR LiveLAB, comments, “The success of the consortium in bringing CoSTAR to our region is testament to the advanced research taking place in extended reality technologies and virtual production at the University of York and XR Stories.

“The new facility will provide vital R&D infrastructure and expertise to propel growth and innovation in our region’s creative industries.”
