Bradford Digital Arts Lab

XR Stories has supported a digital arts lab to help young people in Bradford explore how new technologies can be used to create cutting-edge digital art experiences.

Led by Carbon Imagineering and in partnership with the British Film Institute, the lab awarded six micro-commissions to promising young artists in the city.

Over the course of six weeks, successful applicants came together to collaborate with other digital artists and technologists, and to work with experienced mentors to build skills and knowledge.

Using poetry, film, Artificial Intelligence and 3D printing, the artists produced a range of intriguing and provocative pieces that explore a variety of human experiences.

The culmination of the digital arts lab coincides with the announcement of Bradford as the 2025 City of Culture and champions the talent and creativity of the young people taking part.

The Bradford Digital Arts lab is part of the XR Stories Future is Northern Programme. The programme encompasses a number of research and development projects to explore skills, training and the different routes for future creatives in our region to enter the screen industries.

Visit the Digital Arts Lab website to find out more about the lab and the artists.
