A Creative and Immersive Year in Enterprise at XR Stories

XR Stories is providing specialist support to an undergraduate student at the University of York looking to start a business in the immersive industries.

Quinn McMahon, a third year BSc (Hons) Interactive Media student, was awarded a place on the Creative Immersive Year in Enterprise, a collaboration between XR Stories and the university’s Enterprise at York initiative.

Over the next nine months, Quinn will work alongside the XR Stories team to build his company, Point Reverie, an independent game development studio.

From the XR Stories office and immersive technology lab in the heart of York, Quinn will receive expert guidance from a team experienced in helping more than 600 companies and creatives in the Yorkshire region to innovate and grow.

From prototyping his first IP and outreach at industry events, Quinn has ambitious goals for the year ahead.

“I applied for the Year in Enterprise programme because it was a fantastic opportunity to test out a business idea. With the guidance provided by the programme, and particularly the cutting-edge facilities, technical expertise and support from XR Stories, the Year in Enterprise was appealing as a way to learn the challenges of entrepreneurship in a reduced-risk environment,” says Quinn.

Damian Murphy, Director of XR Stories comments: “Year in Enterprise placements connect the exceptional talent emerging from the University of York with the local and wider creative industries. As a former XR Stories intern, we’re delighted to welcome Quinn back to the XR Stories team and look forward to helping him build his startup business.”
