OpenXR 2
End date: 30 November 2022
OpenXR 2 is a funding call for SMEs in the Yorkshire and Humber region to deliver research and development (R&D) projects focusing on prototype immersive and interactive story experiences or storytelling tools and platforms.
Applicants can bid for up to £25,000 to explore innovation in screen-based storytelling through technologies under the ‘XR’ umbrella. This includes:
- Virtual reality
- Augmented reality
- Mixed reality
- Interactive productions
- Motion and volumetric capture technologies
- Industry/professional technology
- Consumer level technology
OpenXR 2 Objectives
XR Stories is funding clearly marketable prototypes with strong stories. Project teams should be deeply committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, and passionate about bringing relevant academic research into their R&D activities.
OpenXR 2 aims to work with companies that have not previously received R&D funding from XR Stories more than once before. We want to see innovative and incredible stories which are new to the screen industries and which have a clear route to market. For this call we are also interested in the convergence of genres and welcome applications which demonstrate new cross-genre forms of expression, for example: performing arts and video games, TV production and location-based experiences, music videos and interactivity.
