XR Stories Culture and Heritage Event
York Guildhall, St Martins Courtyard, Coney St, York YO1 9QL
What role can XR (eXtended Reality) play in the heritage sector? Hear from artists, technologists, researchers, academics and museums working in this space at our Culture and Heritage Event.
Through a series of talks and demonstrations, we will showcase emerging relationships and projects utilising XR within the culture and heritage sector. The event will address the relationship between culture and heritage and XR and how the two sectors can work together to overcome challenges. There will be a chance to network and see interactive demonstrations of projects that utilise XR within these spaces.
There will be a variety of talks including:
- Keynote speaker Brian Katz (CNRS Research Director at the Sorbonne Université) ‘eXploring the acoustic history of Notre-Dame cathedral’
- Stephanie Peichert (Founder of Talkartive) ‘Whispers of the Past at Notre-dame: promoting academic research through an immersive audio experience for the general public’
The event will feature projects from our XR Stories demonstrators programme which explores the use of eXtended Reality (XR) technologies across the Museums, Galleries and Libraries and Music, Performing Arts, and Visual Arts Industries in Yorkshire and the Humber. Creatives working on the projects will discuss their developing work and will take the opportunity to gain feedback from audience members.
