Immersive Storytelling Workshop with BRiGHTBLACK

Join us and immersive storytelling specialists, BRiGHTBLACK, for a free two-day workshop in our state-of-the-art lab at The Guildhall, in central York.
The workshop will include:
- Talks and live demonstrations in immersive storytelling
- Support in using Unity Games Engine and Reaper
- The opportunity to discuss your ideas with participants
Due to limited capacity we can only accommodate one participant per company.
This is a two-day event. It will run from 10-4 each day with an hour for lunch. Please check and ensure you can attend both dates before registering. The workshop will include practical exercises. When registering through Eventbrite please specify if you will need access to a gaming laptop with Unity downloaded, or if you will be able to bring your own.

Day One (10am-4pm)
Introductions – XR Stories and Brighblack – outline of lab aims and outcomes
Talk: ‘Culture is Changing’
Live demo and play: 3D scanning, mocap, rigging, animation

Talk: Games System Design’ and other design frameworks
Play: Curated works and creative tools – participants explore a selection of works in VR, AR, on screen and VR tools

Play: Binaural and ambisonic sound – participants record virtual instruments in Reaper, experience and explore

Task: Rapid prototyping – participants take on each step of our prototyping process in five short bursts
